About the Role

Sewell Wallis are currently working with a fast growing, PE backed SME based in Leeds as they look to recruit a Management Accountant into their team. This role reports into a dynamic, charismatic Finance Director who is looking for a newly quailed accountant who he can nurture to become the number two in the team within a year.

The successful candidate will first of all get exposure working across 4 of their 5 subsidiary businesses, giving you full exposure to the ins and outs of the business before stepping up into a management role.

What will you be doing?

  • Working with the Finance Director (FD) to develop the management accounting and business partnering function
  • Full ownership of the monthly management accounts four subsidiaries
  • Ensure all journal entries are accurate and backed by appropriate analysis and documentation
  • Performance of monthly balance sheet reconciliations, clearly documenting any reconciling items and feeding these into the risks and opportunities tracker as appropriate. Ensure that reconciling differences are identified, investigated and resolved in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external advisors to ensure compliance and efficiency
  • Support the Finance Manager / Finance Director with ad hoc projects and process improvements
  • Supporting the Finance Manager / Finance Director with mentoring members of the team, with a view to future line management
  • Posting bank accounts and assisting with cashflow
  • Preparation of VAT returns for all entities
  • Responsibility for the intercompany reconciliation process across the Group
  • Prepare payroll and ensure compliance with all relevant payroll legislation
  • Deliver timely and insightful financial reporting to the Finance Director and wider leadership team

What skills do we need?

  • Qualified ACCA, ACA, CIMA
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Minimum 3 years' experience of working in a fast-paced finance department
  • Self-motivated and ability to use initiative with a "roll-up-your-sleeves" attitude
  • The ideal candidate will be used to working in an investor led business although this is not a pre-requisite
