About the Role

Sewell Wallis is pleased to be working with a well-established and highly respected business based in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, which is looking to recruit a Trainee Management Accountant. This is an exciting opportunity to join a company with a strong reputation in their sector, offering stability as well as training and opportunity for progression.

This Trainee Management Accountant role would suit someone who already has experience within a dealership environment and is now looking to take the next step in their finance career. With exposure to management accounts and the support of an experienced finance team, this is a brilliant opportunity for someone studying (or looking to study) AAT, CIMA or ACCA, who wants hands-on development and the chance to grow into a qualified Management Accountant role.

What will you be doing?

  • Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Assisting with accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Producing financial reports and analysis for senior management
  • Working with dealership data to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Using Kerridge to extract and reconcile financial information
  • Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Investigating variances and assisting with performance analysis
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and documentation
  • Supporting year-end processes and audit preparation
  • Working closely with operational teams to improve financial controls and reporting

What skills are we looking for?

  • Previous experience within a dealership environment is essential.
  • Experience within transactional finance and some understanding of management accounting.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong numerical ability.
  • Confident Excel skills and experience working with finance systems including Kerridge.
  • Ambitious, motivated and keen to develop into a Management Accountant role.
