Trainee Accountant
About the Role
Sewell Wallis is currently working with a well-established successful manufacturing business based in North Sheffield, South Yorkshire, who are recruiting a Trainee Accountant. This is a truly stand out opportunity in terms of the focus on training and development they are wanting to offer.
They are looking for someone with some experience - whether that be through education/qualifications or through more hand on work experience, who is keen to develop professionally and continuously take the next steps in their career as a Trainee Accountant. Working closely with the company Finance Director, as you continue to learn you will be able to take on increasingly senior duties, having access to the full finance function within the business. Study support is offered, and training will be available continuously.
What will you be doing?
- Assisting with processing invoices, payments, receipts, and expenses.
- Maintaining accurate records of financial transactions in accounting systems.
- Supporting with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Reconciling bank statements and supplier accounts.
- Preparing financial reports and summaries for management.
- Assisting with payroll preparation and timesheet checks.
- Assisting with VAT returns and other statutory filings.
- Providing administrative support to the finance team, including filing and document management.
- Liaise with suppliers, customers, and internal departments regarding accounts queries.
- Contribute to process improvements to make finance operations more efficient.
- Additional more senior/complex duties as you continue to develop.
What skills are we looking for?
- Experience working within finance and/or relevant qualifications (AAT, CIMA, Accounting & Finance Degree etc.)
- A strong desire to build a long-term accounting career.
- Great numerical accuracy and a high level of attention to detail.
- Strong technical skills, including Excel.
- A drive to learn and take on additional responsibilities.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a supportive team.
