Financial Accountant

Sewell Wallis are delighted to be working exclusively with a large, multinational business based in south Leeds, who are looking to grow their finance team due to 3 recent promotions! This is fantastic evidence of the culture of the business and how they will always try to promote from within wherever possible. They have built an incredible finance function over the past few years and the business itself has consistently grown, organically and through acquisition.

They are now looking to appoint a Financial Accountant, ideally someone looking for their first move into industry, who can join their established finance function and learn from a team of extremely impressive finance professionals. This is a highly varied financial accounting role also includes some management accounting duties, offering someone the ideal move from practice. You will also gain exposure to liaising closely with FP&A and commercial finance, and opportunities to move elsewhere in finance will consistently arise.

You will report into the Finance Manager and your role will include the following responsibilities:-

-Preparation of the statutory accounts for the UK and other entities
-Translate complex financial accounting information into robust and accurate reporting
-Liaising with stakeholders to ensure efficient and accurate reporting, communicating regularly with the business to improve reporting processes
-Preparation of complex journals, balance sheet reconciliations and corporation tax computations
-Balance sheets and P&L reviews, including variance analysis
-Coaching and developing junior members of the finance team
-Liaising with internal and external audit and tax teams to ensure compliance
-Work closely with the FP&A teams and commercial finance to understand P&L drivers
-Take ownership of process improvement in your area, working closely with the line managers to implement required changes

To be considered for the role, you will ideally meet the following criteria:-

-A newly qualified accountant, ideally from a recognised accountancy practice
-Working knowledge of producing statutory accounts
-A driven, motivated and ambitious accountant who is used to working to tight deadlines and within a fast-paced environment
-Ability to coach and develop others
-Ability to research into emerging/complex accounting or reporting issues
