Sustainability at Sewell Wallis

Sewell Wallis have operated in Yorkshire for many years, and we've made a commitment to reduce our environmental impact and operate responsibly, both for our own team and for the communities and clients we work with. Reducing our carbon output and ensuring our office is managed sustainably is a genuine priority, and we work hard to ensure our supply chain is fully rooted in Yorkshire.

Reducing Our Carbon Footprint

Reducing Our Carbon Footprint

We're dedicated to reducing our carbon footprint, and have moved to virtual candidate interviews via videocall as standard. We're also encouraging our team to consider lower-carbon ways of getting to and from work, recognising that commuting is one of the areas where small individual choices add up across our business.

We also offset our carbon footprint by using SaveTrees, a paperless timesheet platform, and Ecologi, which allows us to fund verified environmental projects.

Working With Local Suppliers

Working With Local Suppliers

Where we can, we choose local suppliers over national or online alternatives, cutting down on the shipping and delivery miles behind the things we buy and use day to day.

Working with businesses close to our offices also means we can often collect items on foot or with a short journey rather than relying on deliveries, reducing the emissions tied to our supply chain. It's a small shift, but one we think matters: every choice to buy closer to home is one less delivery van on the road on our account.

Digital Sustainability Awareness

Digital Sustainability Awareness

Our environmental footprint isn't only physical. We're mindful of the impact of the technology we rely on every day, and we're working to reduce it by working with our IT partners to extend the working life of our IT equipment. They also support us in disposing of e-waste responsibly when equipment does reach the end of its life. We use cloud services where possible, and are an almost paperless office, choosing tools that mean we need to use less paper during the recruitment process, which means less impact.

Looking to the Future

Sustainability is important to us, and we're committed to improving where we can.

We're investing in new technology that should allow us to get even closer to completely paperless, and we're working with our IT provider to ensure we're using our technology efficiently and responsibly.

We're also focused on working with the team who manage our offices to ensure easy access to recycling services, for waste as well as office equipment and technology.

We know none of this work is ever a finished picture, and as our own understanding of our environmental impact grows, we expect our priorities to keep evolving, and we'll keep this page updated as they do.
