About the Role
Sewell Wallis is proud to be partnering exclusively with a well-established South Yorkshire manufacturer based in Sheffield to recruit a Finance Director.
The business is currently navigating an exciting period of change and transformation, with ambitious plans to strengthen its market position and drive sustainable growth. With a turnover of £5 million and forming part of a wider £90 million group, they are looking for a commercially minded finance professional to help lead the next stage of their journey.
Working closely with the Managing Director and Head of Sales, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the company's strategy, improving financial performance, and introducing fresh commercial thinking to overcome current challenges and unlock new opportunities.
This role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Financial Controller or Finance Manager ready to take the next step into a Finance Director position. The ideal candidate will be strategically focused, commercially astute, and confident in bringing innovative ideas to the senior leadership team to drive business growth and long-term success.
What will you be doing?
- Lead the company's finance and accounting strategy to optimise financial performance and support business transformation.
- Work closely with the Managing Director and Head of Sales to provide commercial insight and strategic guidance.
- Oversee all aspects of the accounting function, ensuring effective management of financial risk.
- Deliver accurate and timely management accounts, forecasts, and performance reports.
- Present, interpret, and challenge financial information at Board and leadership meetings.
- Partner with key stakeholders to plan and deliver strategic initiatives and growth projects.
- Oversee statutory reporting and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Maintain and enhance robust financial controls and continuously improve processes.
What skills are we looking for?
- Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or ACA).
- Experience within manufacturing or engineering environments.
- Minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience in a senior finance role.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence and drive change.
- Excellent communication skills with confidence to challenge and contribute new ideas.
- Proven experience managing and mentoring finance teams.
