About the Role

Sewell Wallis is currently working with a well-established business based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire who is looking for an Accounts Assistant on a temporary basis for around 6 months. This is a great opportunity to utilise your skills in support a well-established local business.

This Accounts Assistant role predominantly revolves around the maintenance of the Accounts Payable and Receivable ledgers, so is suitable for someone with experience in these areas. If you have varied transactional experience and are available immediately and interested in temporary work, then this is one not to be missed out on.

What will you be doing?

  • Processing and coding purchase invoices
  • Preparing BACS payment runs for authorisation
  • Processing employee expenses
  • Reconciling supplier statements
  • Issuing sales invoices and credit notes as required
  • Reviewing aged debtors monthly and contacting customers with overdue balances
  • Completing monthly bank reconciliations
  • Preparing monthly VAT returns
  • Collating data using spreadsheets
  • Carrying out additional ad hoc duties at management's discretion to support the wider finance team

What skills are we looking for?

  • Experience in a similar role, including maintaining Accounts Payable and Receivable ledgers
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and Excel
  • Ability to multitask with a high level of accuracy
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the confidence to manage your own workload independently
  • Strong all-round communication skills
