The Group Financial Accounting Manager will take responsibility for ensuring the group financial and management accounts;

*Conducting formal internal review and analysis over accounting process and policy
*Ownership of balance sheet assurance activities
*Ownership of accounting policies and the group accounting manual
*Managing centrally controlled financial activities
*Assisting with the preparation of the group annual financial statements
*Supporting the external audit process
*Prepare the annual group financial statements
*Prepare evidence for and support internal and external audit activities
*Own the balance sheet reconciliation process and associated review activities, with a focus on ensuring compliance with accounting policies and enhancing quality and control of reconciliations
*Lead periodic balance sheet review meetings with commercial Heads of Finance and Finance Directors, providing feedback on central assurance activities performed and challenging assumptions and treatments where required
*Own a number of group / central Balance Sheet and P&L items e.g. Fixed Assets, provisioning, complex accounting adjustments
*Own internal controls related to the activities performed and managed
*Facilitate review of exceptional P&L items
*Provide accounting treatment advice and approval for projects and business as usual activities
*Contribute to the monthly Board and GE pack
*Support on Central Finance project work
*Escalate any control issues identified and suggest improvements
*Lead the group Fixed Assets team and oversee associated activities
*Facilitate the work and development of 2 direct reports


The person;

*Good understanding of financial statement risks and assertions
*Good technical knowledge of IFRS
*Good understanding of finance systems
*Experience of reviewing and analysing financial information and designing assurance procedures
*Experience working with or within large, complex organisations
*Experience of managing teams
*External audit experience preferred


Qualifications required;

*Fully qualified accountant (e.g. ACA, ACCA)
