Sewell Wallis are delighted to be exclusively partnering with a thriving SME based in Leeds. This £60m t/o business have a clear growth strategy in place and are set to quickly reach a t/o of £100m.

Due to this expansion, the business has decided to restructure their finance function, to ensure the Finance Director can really focus on strategy and start passing down their knowledge to a strong number two.

They are therefore now looking to appoint a highly motivated and ambitious Financial Controller to run the finance team, alongside a strong focus on business partnering with commercial and operational directors. This is a highly autonomous position, where you can make a significant impact and grow with the business.

As the Financial Controller, you will play a pivotal role in driving financial strategy and ensuring the continued success of the company. Reporting into the Finance Director, you will have the opportunity to work closely with the Board, providing valuable insights and recommendations to support decision making processes.

The role offers a unique blend of hands-on financial management, business partnering and strategic planning. Your responsibilities will include the following duties:-

-Oversee the day to day financial operations including budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting
-Develop and maintain robust financial controls and procedures
-Business partner with Managing Director and Regional Directors including commercial and operations
-Effectively challenge senior stakeholders by collaborating with them to develop and monitor budgets, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives
-Manage a finance team of 6 individuals, consistently coaching and developing them where required
-Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
-Provide accurate and timely financial analysis, highlighting key trends, risks and opportunities
-Act as a trusted advisor to the Board, offering financial insights and recommendations to drive business growth
-Continue to enhance a culture of continuous improvement and professional development across the finance function

To be considered for this opportunity you will need to be:-

-A qualified accountant, ideally having trained in a recognised accountancy firm
-Be technically competent with confidence around financial controls
-Strong analytical skills
-Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
-Ambitious and self-motivated
-Demonstrated ability to provide strategic financial insights and influence decision-making at a senior level.
