Sewell Wallis are currently recruiting for an Financial Accountant on a permanent basis to join a growing, forward thinking business based within the West York area.

This is an excellent opportunity for an AAT qualified or part qualified candidate who is studying ACCA/CIMA to join a business that has managed to retain a family feel like culture and environment despite its impressive recent growth.

This role will report into and work closely with the Senior Accountant and will be a varied all round financial accounts based role but there will be a strong emphasise on the audit side. This is an excellent opportunity to join a business that really do promote from within and emphasises collaboration and champions a culture where everyone works together, owning and resolving challenges as a team.

This role will suit an individual who has a solid and proven accounting background ideally from a practice background, has a strong work ethic and is really looking to develop and progress with the business long term.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:-

-Full involvement with the audit process and ensuring that existing financial controls are adhered to at all times
Processing accruals and prepayments and journal postings
-Assisting in the preparation of the monthly profit and loss statement and balance sheet for review and including checking accuracy of invoice coding
-Cash-flow analysis and carrying out balance sheet reconciliations and investigating anomalies and discrepancies
-Dealing with HMRC and reconciling the weekly supplier payments
-Processing quarterly VAT returns
-Getting involved in system and process implementation and improvement when appropriate
-Maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts and working towards deadlines
-Ensuring compliance with all relevant reporting requirements
-Preparing financial reports as requested by management by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
-Full understanding of accounting processes and be able to assist accounting operations at a transactional level when required

The ideal candidate will:-

-Have good communication skills and will be confident communicating at all levels
-Ideally be AAT qualified or be studying CIMA/ACCA or have the equivalent level of practical experience within a financial accounts type role
-Ideally have a practice background and will have an understanding and some practical experience of the audit process
- Be ambitious and will want to progress within a business and will enjoy a role with more of an emphasise on financial accounts/controls
-Be able to work within a fast paced, deadline orientated environment.
-Have excellent attention to detail and will pick up new skills quickly.
-Have strong Word and Excel skills.
