About the Role

Sewell Wallis are partnering with a forward-thinking and unique Accounting Practice based in Sheffield to recruit a Portfolio Manager / Client Finance Director Team Leader.

As Portfolio Manager, you will join a multi-award-winning accountancy and advisory practice, supporting ambitious start-ups, scale-ups, and SMEs to automate their finances, optimise processes, and free up valuable time, all while helping to drive sustainable growth.

You will manage your own portfolio of clients, lead a team of accountants, and contribute to the strategic development of the firm.

What will you be doing?

  • Leading, developing, and upskilling a team of accounting professionals delivering a comprehensive range of accounting and business advisory services.
  • Acting as a strategic finance partner to client leadership teams, with a focus on growth, profitability, operational efficiency, and long-term financial planning.
  • Overseeing automated financial systems, monthly management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management, and compliance requirements.
  • Ensuring clients are audit-ready and well-prepared for fundraising, investment, or exit strategies.
  • Bringing objective insight, financial discipline, and structured strategic thinking to client engagements.
  • Leveraging the firm's software and technology solutions to enhance innovation and operational efficiency.
  • Championing and embodying the firm's core values: being kind, bold, collaborative, results-driven, and people-focused.

What skills are we looking for?

  • * Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
  • * Tech-savvy with strong experience using leading accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, etc.).
  • * A strong, supportive leader who leads by example and thrives in a collaborative team environment.
  • * Hands-on experience in management accounts, forecasting, financial modelling, cash-flow management, and compliance.
  • An excellent communicator with the ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships.
